Stand: The Internet has caused more problems than it has solved.

Point:
The increasing access to information on the internet has caused more problems than it has solved. With increasing access to the internet, many users have a more access to sites that allow illegal downloading or piracy.

Explain:
Many sites are available on the internet that allows users to download applications, music and movies for free. This has caused many artists and producers to face losses in profits. Moreover, all the hard work and money put into making these music and movies goes to waste with people downloading them illegally. This would make it unfair for all those who actually paid money for these media. However, governments are coming up with many ways to stop piracy including the shutdown of file sharing site Megaupload.

Example:
Statistics also show that 42% of media downloaded online are illegal and pirated. With almost 95% of music online illegally put up and 42% of softwares in computers being illegally downloaded, it shows the increasing trend of illegal downloads. Sites such as Piratebay were tried to be shut down numerous times but it keeps reappearing with different domains. This shows that these illegal downloading will not die out easily.

Link:
Hence, this increasing access to information has led much more people to be able to download illegally and not buy media legally. It also affects all those who played a part in the production of this media as they would have money gone to waste.
